Disappointed 49ers fans slam team owner Jed York following Ohio prostitution sting arrest

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Fans are reacting after San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested in Ohio on suspicion of engaging in prostitution.

"There's no way this is real. I thought it was a fake story because a lot of times there's those fake AI stories nowadays," said Ray Melwani, a 49ers fan.

"I was like, is this a prank? And then I kept reading it, and it was like, ABC News." said Nate Payne, another 49ers fan.

Court records say York showed up at this mobile home community and had "arranged to have sexual activity with the female in exchange for $140."

York pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors, but is still facing a review by the NFL.

"We just had Kittle come back, you know- yesterday. Everybody's so excited, Christian McCaffrey comes back, and then boom- you take two steps forward, and then a couple steps back. And it's just like, oh man when are we gonna get a break?" said Melwani.

Raj Melwani has spent several-thousand dollars to attend the 49ers opener in Australia in a couple weeks and runs a fan page called "ourSF49ers."

"And you know, they're gonna have to put this in the back of their head, like all the other controversies that they've had, and it's just another hurdle for this team to deal with. And so yeah, you do think about that. You're going all the way to this trip, you spend all this money, and you want to see your team win," said Melwani.

This is latest in what has been a roller coaster of an offseason with a Kyle Shanahan car accident, a Brandon Aiyuk contract dispute, more substation injury talk, and now a Jed York arrest.

"Man, it's just, it's like a big soap opera before the season started," said Payne.

Here's what attorney Ivan Golde had to say.

"In my opinion, and I worked in in professional football for several years, and represented over 50 players and I did work for three years in the National Football League. This will have no effect at all on what happens on the field. The coaches will coach, the players will play," said Golde.

And Niners fans hope, the team will win.
