FBI offers $20,000 reward for information on Morgan Hill shooting where teen was killed
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KGO) -- Federal investigators have joined the investigation into a mass shooting in Morgan Hill that left one person dead and six others injured, authorities announced Wednesday.
The shooting occurred during a birthday party for a San Jose Twitch streamer in a large open field along Hale Avenue on July 25. Authorities said 18-year-old Desi Romero was killed and six other people were injured. No arrests have been announced, and investigators continue to search for a suspect.
The FBI said it is providing assistance to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office as investigators work to develop new leads.

"This is an extraordinary incident with so many different pieces to it. The sheer magnitude of the amount of people that were there, the scene where it was occurred -- there are a lot of pieces of evidence that we just need assistance with," Sheriff Bob Jonsen said.
Romero's mother, Stephanie Trombly, is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
"Desi is my son. He was funny, loyal, and someone who brought laughter and love to the people around him. He had so much life ahead of him," she said.
Trombly added, "We're asking anyone who knows anything about this person that did this to Desi to please come forward."

Authorities said the party drew in more than 300 attendees. Videos obtained by ABC7 Eyewitness News were among the pieces of evidence investigators have been reviewing. The event was livestreamed, including the shooting itself.
The FBI is encouraging the public to submit videos, photos and other digital evidence that could help identify those responsible. The bureau is offering a $20,000 reward for information related to the case.
"There were 300+ people that attended this event. Someone saw something. Someone knows something and someone has some information: a conversation, a social media post, or even some digital evidence that's only a few seconds long. The public needs to come forward," FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Matt Cobo said.

Cobo said the FBI also assisted in the investigation of the Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting and noted that federal resources can help process large amounts of evidence from major incidents.
Investigators said even small pieces of information could prove valuable to the case.
"You could be the person that helps us get the justice Desi and the other victims deserve," Trombly said.
Anyone who was in the area and captured photos or video around the time of the shooting can submit materials through the FBI's Morgan Hill shooting tip portal at fbi.gov/morganhillshooting. Anonymous tips can also be provided by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI.
