Man swallowed alive by whale in new survival thriller 'Whalefall'

LOS ANGELES -- If you know the word thalassophobia, there's a good chance the new "Whalefall" trailer might give you the shiversit's the fear of deep, open water, and this one dives right into it.

From 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment comes a survival thriller following a man who plunges off California's Central Coast in search of his father's remains, only to be swallowed whole by a massive sperm whale!

Trapped inside with just one hour of oxygen left, Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams) is forced to rely on the lessons his father (Josh Brolin) left behind, which may be his only shot at escape.

Along with Brolin and Abrams, the film also stars Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy and Emily Rudd.

A new trailer shows the haunting moments of Jay fighting to reach the surface while avoiding a violent encounter between a whale and a squid.

Abrams and director Brian Duffield also brought the experience to life at Regal Sherman Oaks Galleria in Los Angeles for a special 4DX trailer preview, giving journalists and guests an immersive look at the film's deep-sea terror.
