'General Hospital' stars have 'Feuding" fun for a good cause

HOLLYWOOD -- ABC's summer of fun and games continues with our favorite daytime stars competing on "Celebrity Family Feud." It's all for charity, and the actors on "General Hospital" are playing for the nonprofit, The Nature Conservancy.

Donnell Turner joined castmates Finola Hughes, Rena Sofer, Tanisha Harper and Maurice Benard for some friendly competition.

The "GH" team is playing another daytime dynasty - the stars of "The Young and the Restless." Turner thinks he might have an upper hand in this game because he is a "game show" guy.

"I grew up on game shows," said Turner. "I remember right before the 'stories,' right before the soaps, that lineup, and not lost in that was 'Family Feud.' I watch the show, so I felt like I could quarterback this!"

Turner can't reveal the outcome, but he did say they had a blast! He was especially proud with a few reactions he got from host Steve Harvey.

"I gotta say I made Steve Harvey laugh!" Turner said. "And I gotta say, to make a king of comedy laugh will be one of the most memorable moments of my career."

The cast had to juggle taping the show with their day jobs at "GH."

Over the years, Donnell's character, Curtis Ashford, has seen danger, happiness, love and loss. I asked what kind of storyline is most fun to play. He said it is not when things are on an even keel.

"We want the angst! Let's cook it up," said Turner. "These writers are amazing. I'm so pleased. I've been there10 years now. I'm eager. I should be getting a script today or this week. I'm nervous but I'm excited. I love it."

"General Hospital" airs Monday through Friday on ABC. This special soap-centric episode of "Celebrity Family Feud" airs Thursday, July 31.
