"The Stand Up to Cancer telecast is super important to communicate and raise awareness about cancer research," Williams said. "Everyone is affected by cancer. People may think 'it's such a huge problem, how can I even start to take a dent at it?' And so I think through our telecast, you're able to see that every dollar counts."
This year's special will feature performances by the Jonas Brothers, Jelly Roll, Jon Pardi, Brothers Osbourne, Noah Cyrus, Marcus King, Dan + Shay, Gavin DeGraw and CeCe Winans, joined by the Nashville Community Gospel Choir.
Sheryl Crow is the evening's host and she'll also perform.
Zoe Saldaña, Reese Witherspoon, Keith Urban, Kevin Bacon, Jamie Foxx and Tim McGraw will take part in pre-taped segments. Co-founder Katie Couric will also make remarks.
Thirty media platforms across the country will stream the event commercial-free, including all four major U.S. broadcast networks and several streaming services, including Twitch, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and more.
This is the first time the event will be telecast from Nashville.
"It'll be an incredible night of entertainment and edutainment. So you'll hear about early detection. You'll hear the importance of it. You'll here these inspiring stories of patients and you'll be entertained. So hopefully you'll leave the night really feeling hopeful. We're at a critical time in cancer research. So now is the time to give and to really save lives," Williams said.
