Officer injured in shooting near Richmond-El Cerrito border; lockdown lifted

RICHMOND, Calif. (KGO) -- Richmond police are investigating after an officer was injured in a shooting Thursday night.

The shooting occurred about 7:30 p.m. on Key Boulevard, near the city's border with El Cerrito, Lt. Joe England said.

The officer was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The incident triggered a heavy police presence in the area, with police ordering a lockdown for residents.

Police are asked residents not to call 911 unless they need to report a life-threatening emergency.
