CONCORD, Calif. -- A Concord man who had a stay-away order and was out on bail due to allegations of domestic violence was charged in the stabbing death of his wife, the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office said Tuesday.
The 40-year-old man is charged for the alleged murder of his wife. Prosecutors said he was out of custody on bail in a pending domestic violence case when the alleged attack occurred.

On Friday, Concord police were called to the 2300 block of Panoramic Drive just before 9 p.m. after receiving a report of a disturbance in a home involving a man and a knife. Police entered the residence and found a man and a woman who were unresponsive and suffering from stab wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

On May 9, the man was charged with assault with a deadly weapon by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, corporal injury to a spouse and false imprisonment. The District Attorney's Office objected to the $1,000 bail set by a judge, prosecutors said, but the court issued stay-away orders barring him from contacting his wife or returning to the residence.
He is charged with murder and three other allegations of dissuading a witness (his wife) from reporting a crime, assault with a deadly weapon, and corporal injury to a spouse. He also faces allegations of child endangerment.
