Man shot, killed in Pleasanton, police say

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- A 29-year-old Pleasanton man was accused by police of shooting and killing another man in Pleasanton on Friday night.

The suspect was taken into custody after Pleasanton police officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 9:40 p.m. in the 4600 block of Helpert Court and found a victim suffering from gunshot injuries, according to a news release from the Pleasanton Police Department.

The suspect was booked into Santa Rita Jail and was ordered held without bail. He has an arraignment hearing scheduled for Wednesday, according to jail records.

The victim's identity was not released.

Police searched the suspect's residence and allegedly found suspected improvised explosive devices, which were removed by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team. Police said there was no ongoing threat.
