New 'SantaCon' documentary digs deep into Bay Area roots of holiday tradition

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Every December, the streets of San Francisco fill up with Santas going bar hopping, celebrating the holiday and having fun. You know it as SantaCon.

This year's event is on Dec. 13.

And we know it's not just a San Francisco holiday event; here are events nationwide.

But do you know how SantaCon got its start? It wasn't always just a holiday-themed bar crawl. Part of it has Bay Area roots.

A new documentary film about the so-called "most hated event on the planet" premiered last week.

Director of "SantaCon," Seth Porges, joined us to talk more about the film.
