Regenald Maharaj, who lives across the street, said his home security camera captured activity around the time of the shooting.

"Around 12:12 or so was the timestamp when I heard a loud sound -- what sounded like a gunshot -- and then like a minute or two later, I saw someone running from the corner down San Pedro," Maharaj said.

Police responded shortly afterward. Audio from local emergency scanners indicated first responders were treating a gunshot victim.

"One victim shot in the chest. So far, we have one male GSW (gunshot wound) code blue. We transported. We can handle with resources on scene, however, PD is still clearing the house and searching for any suspects or victims," a dispatcher said on scanner traffic.

Police said they arrested multiple male subjects in connection with the case. Authorities did not release additional information about them.

Scanner traffic also suggested the shooting may have involved a robbery, but Fremont police did not mention a possible robbery in their latest news release.

Residents described seeing a large law enforcement response in the neighborhood.

"All I heard that's a lot of police activity," one neighbor said. "I heard the sirens. I saw cars running from that way to this way really fast and the police were chasing, and then I saw someone was arrested."

Neighbors said a home at the corner of Baffin Avenue and San Pedro Drive is divided into multiple units. During the investigation, multiple people, including toddlers, were seen on the home's front porch and lawn.

Some neighbors told ABC7 the property has been a source of concerns in the past compared with other homes on the street.

Maharaj said he remained shaken by what he witnessed.

"After the first gunshot, I heard, what sounded like from the camera, a baby like wailing, like, crying," Maharaj said. "I'm still kinda in shock, because I'm, like, trying to wrap my head around - 'cause I've lived and grown up in this neighborhood, so I've not really seen anything this up close and personal in terms, like, of an active gun shooting, so I'm a little perturbed by it."

Police said the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Authorities also said all suspects have been arrested, though the investigation remains active and ongoing.
