Power restored to all of SF after days-long outage, PG&E says

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Power is back on across San Francisco following this weekend's massive power outage that lasted for days for many residents.

PG&E says power was restored to the remaining 3,800 customers in the dark at 4:30 a.m. The widespread outage happened after a fire at a substation, but PG&E says tthe root cause is still under investigation.

Around 130,000 customers were without power at the heigh of the outage on Saturday, but that lingered into Sunday and then again into Monday for thousands of residents.

PG&E says a few hundred customers are still in the dark, but expect all to be restored Tuesday morning. This is after they said they would have power restored to everyone no later than 2 p.m. Monday.

The utility is promising automatic bill credits for the tens of thousands impacted. PG&E announced on Monday that impacted residential customers will get a $200 bill credit and businesses will get a $2,500 bill credit with no action required.

It has been challenging for many locals who have been without power for days.

Those who live at the Abigail Residential Hotel in the Tenderloin have been some of the ones who were still waiting on power, many who have trouble walking.
