SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Hundreds of people gathered for Vermont Senator Bernie Sander's "Ballots Over Billionaires" rally in San Francisco Saturday.
"It's a hot day so I needed some "bern" in my life," said Josh Thomas, who traveled from Hayward. "Just been a big supporter of Bernie for years and I've yet to see him in person."
Bay Area representative Ro Khanna (D-Santa Clara) joined Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) to ramp up support for Proposition 40 or the so called "Billionaire's Tax."
"Get off your yachts and your rocket ships, take a break from your cocktail parties and look around you."
The proposition would create a one time 5% tax of billionaires who live in California — roughly 250 people.
The majority of the money would go towards health care.
"If Proposition 40 doesn't pass? 3.5 million Californians will lose their health care, and 150,000 health care providers will lose their jobs. It's a no brainer," said Rep. Ro Khanna.

And if you're wondering what a Vermont senator has to do with Prop 40 — nothing directly.
But Sanders has spent decades pushing ideas at the heart of this issue
"Never before have we seen such an unprecedented level of greed, arrogance and irresponsibility on the part of the ruling class of this country," said Sen. Bernie Sanders.
But not everyone supports Prop 40.
Former U.S. representative Katie Porter is part of a coalition voting no on the billionaire's tax.
"People are understandably desperate for something that's going to fix health care. Prop 40 promises to do that, but it absolutely does not," she said.
She said she supports taxing the ultra wealthy, but this is the wrong way to go about it.
"If we're going to ask billionaires to pay up, and I think we should, then that money ought to go towards something that actually changes people's lives," Porter said.
Californians will be able to cast their ballots on this starting on Monday.
