
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A week of rain that will soak the Bay Area over the Christmas holiday begins Friday.

This weekend will bring heavy rain to the Bay Area with the possibility of minor flooding by Sunday morning.

On Sunday morning, we could begin to see standing water on roads/spinouts, issues on small streams and creeks. Our rivers will be fine with no threat of flooding.

We will be at a level 2 on the ABC7 Exclusive Storm Impact Scale both Saturday and Sunday.

Heaviest rain will occur in the afternoon and evening Saturday, lasting all Sunday morning.
Thunderstorms are possible Sunday morning.
Rainfall totals this weekend will exceed 1" in most cities with the possibility of 2"+ in the North Bay.

Our pattern remains active next week with heavy rain and gusty winds continuing for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Over the next seven days the Bay Area will see several inches of rain with the possibility up to a foot in parts of the North Bay.
