Talking humanoid robot 'Ameca' makes appearance at San Mateo County Fair
SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- Ameca, a humanoid robot, made an appearance at the San Mateo County Fair on Saturday.
Ameca's abilities include facial expressions and real-time conversations in more than 50 languages including French, Spanish and Mandarin.
British company Engineered Arts is behind the technology, and it has an office in Redwood City.
"Especially with all the hype around AI, there's definitely a lot of hesitation around robots. But our mission at Engineered Arts is making an approachable, sociable robot that forms a sense of human connection, and makes people be more at ease," said Leo Chen, Engineered Arts.
According to the fair's schedule, Ameca's visit was only set for June 6.
Of course, there are traditional carnival games, rides, delicious food and entertainment at the San Mateo County Fair.

Jay Sean is set to perform on Friday, June 12.
The San Mateo County Fair runs through June 14, except for June 8 and 9.
Tickets are available online and at the gate.
