FREMONT, Calif. (KGO) -- A Fremont is recovering after a violent altercation with a neighbor left her hospitalized for a week.
The woman has multiple injuries, including brain trauma after getting slammed to the ground near her home on San Pedro Drive.
Shocking video shows the moments Elsei Arling is slammed to the ground in front of her home. The incident occurred last Wednesday.
Arling says she was at home alone when she heard her neighbor, who rented a room a few houses down, fighting with someone outside. Wondering what was going on, Arling says she went out front.
"And then I saw him. He was just standing right in front of that house next door. And then he started talking to me," she said.
The surveillance video from Arling's house shows her recording the man as he approaches her and rips her phone out of her hand.
"So I ran after him, grabbed the phone and he did something. I don't remember," Arling said.

What Arling doesn't remember is being violently thrown to the ground. Her husband, Dutch Arling, says she's suffering from multiple injuries.
"She has fractures on the right side of her head around the ear... She has about 50% of her hearing still, accompanied by swelling. Swelling of the brain," he said.
Dutch was with the couple's son at a volleyball tournament when the incident happened. He said he first learned of the attack on his wife after getting an alert on his phone that there were police and ambulances in front of his house.
"At that moment I felt a lot of feelings towards the guy," Dutch said.
After a week in the ICU, Elsei was finally released on Wednesday.

But with medical bills piling up due to not only this, but also her husband's two-time battle with cancer, the couple have started a GoFundMe.
"We've just exhausted every single resource that we had, like retirement funds, insurance annuity," Dutch said.
The Arlings say they know the weeks and months ahead will be challenging. But in this time of need, Dutch said they're thankful for friends and family.
"It's the community around us that is also giving me hope. It's giving me the energy to deal with this," Dutch said.
