

NEW YORK -- An Avianca Airlines flight bound for New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport was diverted to Miami after several passengers were injured during turbulence.
The flight was traveling from Medellín, Colombia, to New York when it encountered turbulence and was forced to divert to Miami.
Eight passengers were transported to hospitals with injuries. Their conditions were not immediately known Friday morning.
It was unclear exactly when the turbulence occurred during the flight.
ABC News reported there was weather in the area at the time, but officials had not said whether weather was the cause of the turbulence.
