NEW YORK -- For more than 25 years, Richloom Fabrics has worked with Disney Experiences to bring the brand's beloved stories to life through textiles across destinations like Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line.
"So, when you go to a hotel room and you see fabrics hanging as drapery or blackouts, or pillows on the bed or a bedskirt; those are the types of things we provide to clients," explains Lauren Somers Pelusio, SVP Richloom Contract.
"Richloom is a family-run, third generational business. It began with my grandfather in 1957," shares Michael Saevitz, President and CEO of Richloom. "Part of what makes Richloom a great team to work with are our designers."
For senior designer Cameron Blake, working with Disney offers an especially exciting and inspiring challenge.
"It's really great to design for Disney because I'm able to see the characters come to life and then it's fun because there's sometimes when I get to hide the Mickey head within the fabric," Blake says. "So, it's really good to push my creative boundaries that way."
Richloom also shares Disney's undeniable passion for detail, a mutual value that has helped this collaboration stand the test of time.
"We do create very highly themed environments, and we do need collaborators that understand the importance of the details," says Carla Schmiedt, Principal Interior Designer, Walt Disney Imagineering.
Highlighting the custom pillows and sofa fabric Richloom created for the Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, Schmiedt adds, "it's amazing how much the textiles actually help us tell the story. The bring color, pattern to the space and they really elevate the guest experience."
