An RV fire near I-880 in Oakland was extinguished Monday morning after firefighters rescued at least one dog that was tied to the RV when it was engulfed in flames.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- An RV fire near Interstate 880 in Oakland was extinguished Monday morning after firefighters responded to reports of a blaze near Fifth and Kirkham streets, just east of the West Oakland BART station.

SKY7 captured video of the fire from overhead, showing an RV fully engulfed in flames.

Oakland Fire Department crews received the call just before 6:30 a.m.

Oakland Fire says when crews arrived they found three dogs and one of them was tied up to the RV. Animal control was requested.

The fire appeared to have started in a small homeless encampment, according to information from the scene.

Firefighters had the blaze under control and extinguished it shortly before 7 a.m.

Authorities have not disclosed what caused the fire. It was also not immediately known whether anyone was injured, including the dog that was tied to the RV.
