Police officials said the teen was "injured by a bladed object during a fight with other juveniles."
Multiple teens were detained in connection with the fight.
A spokesperson for Oakland Unified School District said the fight happened in a back parking lot following some kind of disagreement and that the person who was stabbed suffered injuries that aren't considered life-threatening.
The fight and stabbing triggered Castlemont's "secure school protocol, in which everyone was kept inside their classrooms and offices until Oakland Police gave us the all-clear," according to a statement sent out by OUSD spokesperson John Sasaki.
Normal operations resumed on campus at about 11:30 a.m.
"In addition to academics, schools across Oakland Unified School District teach social emotional learning skills, which include anger management and conflict resolution, and we implore our students to use these skills every chance they get and to resolve their differences peacefully," the district's statement said.
