SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Despite increasing costs, a new survey shows that Americans aren't giving up their summer travel plans -- at least not yet.
A survey by The Points Guy and YouGov found that a majority of people -- 71% -- plan to travel as much... or even more... than last summer.
But that's not to say those who are planning vacations aren't altering their itineraries.
Vacationers said they were picking cheaper destinations (28%), and going on shorter trips (28%).
They're also changing how they get there by picking cheaper modes of travel, like driving instead of flying (26%).

On the other hand, 19% of those surveyed said they were planning to travel less.
The reasons why?
Well -- 39% cited general economic anxiety. 30% pointed to higher airfare prices.
But even the best laid plans can change. 65% say they would cancel or modify their trip, if the cost of airfare and gas continues to climb.
The cost of travel has gone up 27% since last year, so for some a "staycation" might be ideal.
