On a day that would have been celebrated as Cesar Chavez Day, now renamed Farmworkers Day, people are still reckoning with the late labor leader's legacy after allegations surfaced earlier this month.
If you love the entrepreneurial drama of "Shark Tank" or the high‑stakes competition of American Idol, UC Berkeley has its own version playing out this week - and it involves cow farts.
For decades, Cesar Chavez, the prominent civil rights icon, devoted his life to helping farmworkers. He was once viewed as a hero now an alleged abuser. Now, his supporters feel betrayed.
"He was our hero, and now to see this, it's just devastating," John Quiñones told Eyewitness News, sharing his insight as a former farmworker himself who looked up to Chavez.
"I can no longer stay silent and must share my own experiences," Huerta said.
