The shooting unfolded Wednesday morning at United Rentals in Manassas.
Half Moon Bay's vice mayor believes the poor conditions workers live in played a role in the tragedy. "It's all related. Think about our mental health," said Jimenez.
"Horrible. Horrific. Deplorable conditions. We saw what basically looked like sheds. Storage containers that people were living in. No insulation. No running water. " However, the farm says this is inaccurate.
Investigators say the suspect Chunli Zhao was allegedly taunted with an offensive nickname that may have fueled his anger leading up to the attack being described as "intentional."
Zhao's former coworker and roommate said that he once tried to suffocate him with a pillow and threatened to cut his head with a knife if he didn't get his job back, according to court documents.
ABC7 News confirmed that the suspect was an employee at one of the mushroom farms where the shooting took place, and all victims were co-workers.
