HAVERFORD, Pennsylvania -- 55 years ago, David Parham played in Haverford College's final football season.
The year was 1971. The season culminated with a victory over long-time rival, Swarthmore.
Parham graduated in 1972, not knowing he would be the last quarterback to play a full season at the school. Later that year, the football program struggled to fill out its ranks and was discontinued.
Parham went on to have a five-decade career as a lawyer and continued to grow a friendship with his former teammate, Art Baruffi.
Together, they returned to Haverford College to donate a football, Parham's jersey, and a plaque depicting his Maxwell Award for College Player of the Week.
Baruffi is committed to supporting his long friend in Parham, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease a few years ago.
