SAN JOSE, Calif. -- An athletic trainer at a San Jose high school was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery, police said Wednesday.
On Oct. 8 just before 7:30 p.m., a report of a sexual battery came in that allegedly occurred at Archbishop Mitty High School on Mitty Way.
According to investigators, a 16-year-old girl said the suspect, an athletic trainer at the school, was providing care for a sports-related injury she had when he allegedly sexually battered her and recorded it on his phone.
A search warrant was issued for the suspect's home and vehicles. On Friday, the suspect was located in Fremont and detectives allegedly found child sex abuse material on his cellphone.
Arrested was Kelvin Chiu, 31, on suspicion of annoying or molesting a minor, producing or possessing child sex abuse material, and sexual battery.
The school administration was notified and is fully cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
Due to the suspect's position of trust, detectives believe there may be additional alleged victims. Anyone with information about these cases is asked to contact Detective Camarillo and Detective Widmer via email at 4576@sanjoseca.gov and 4581@sanjoseca.gov or by calling 408-277-4102.
