Nancy Chen

She joined ABC7 News in March 2026 after six years as a network correspondent based in New York for CBS News. She contributed to all CBS News platforms and shows and was a regular fill-in anchor for 'CBS Mornings', 'CBS Saturday Morning' and 'CBS Weekend News' along with CBS News 24/7, the streaming platform. Her assignments covered 28 states and three countries, including the 2025 presidential inauguration; protests at Columbia University; the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia; the 2022 midterm elections; the Buffalo, NY supermarket shooting; the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and the pandemic. Chen was also a correspondent for the Consumer Unit and part of the 'CBS Mornings' team that won a National Emmy for 'Outstanding Live News Program'.
She was previously a weekday anchor/reporter at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. and a weekend anchor/reporter at WHDH-TV in Boston, where she reported on the 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games, the Super Bowl and the Boston Marathon bombing.
It's a homecoming back to the Golden State for Chen. She started her on-air career in San Luis Obispo and was a freelance web producer for KABC-TV in Los Angeles while a student at the University of Southern California. Chen attended on a full academic scholarship as a Trustee Scholar and graduated with a degree in International Relations. She also studied Mandarin at Peking University in Beijing.
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, cooking and running. She has completed three marathons, including the 2025 New York City Marathon.
She and her husband Patrick, a SoCal native, are excited to return to California and looking forward to exploring the Bay Area!
